Chapter 441 of the Experimental Aircraft Association EAA will hold a Young Eagles flight rally at the Auburn Municipal Airport as part of the Annual Auburn Airport Days event on July 13th 2024.  Volunteer pilots will be providing free airplane rides to children and young adults ages 8 though 17.  Flights will begin at 10 AM and the last flights will depart at 3:40.

Parents, Please register for your children and young adults at youngeaglesday.org in advance.  Registration will open on June 1st and will close when all flight slots are full.   Last year 192 flights were logged so it is a busy day.  Please arrive 10  minutes before your scheduled flight and check in with the registration desk. Late arrivals run the risk that their seats will have been given to other persons. The SAME PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN who does the online registration will need to be present at the flight rally to sign the required waivers.  Pre-signed forms will not be accepted. GRANDPARENTS, STEPFATHERS, STEPMOTHERS, etc. do not qualify unless they are also the legal guardians.

WHEN REGISTRATION IS CLOSED:  There is no waiting list, but it is likely registration will re-open as cancellations are received.  Typically this occurs three days prior to the event when the system issues confirmation e-mails to the parents, but it can occur at any time.  Registration may re-open on the morning of the flight rally if there are no-shows.  Check with the on site registration desk at the event.

Meet your Pilot
The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible. Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada. Flights are conducted according to federal regulations and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed.
What will my pre-flight be like?
First of all, your pilot will explain what you will see and do. This may include explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Then comes the fun part: you get to go flying!
Safety Reminders
Safety is always top priority when it comes to aviation. Listen and follow instructions given by your pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with your pilot or ground crew at all times.
What will my flight be like?
You will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern. You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives. You will, too!
