Once you press the register button. The next page is your confirmation. Find the Waiver, print it out, sign it (signed by a parent or legal guardian) and bring it to the Rally. This will have your child's ID number. For mulitiple kids. One form per child. This saves paperwork for you and me. You don't need to fill out the registration form at the Rally with your printed waiver form. But we still have permission and release forms that will be provided when you arrive at the airport and must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.  Once you arrive at the airport, the completed form has been accepted, and your child(ren) is registered, your child(ren)’s name will be added to the next available slot for a flight.  The order of flights is a first come first serve basis.  Our goal is to complete all flights before 11:30 am. Note I put our closing time as 9:30 am. In previous years we had several families that showed up as we were closing down. We are Volunteers, once all kids have flown we close down and go home. Please be at the airport before 9:30 am.

While waiting for your flight, a stationary airplane may be available to demonstrate aerodynamics and the operations of an airplane.  For yours and your child(ren)s safety, a presenter will escort small groups into the static aircraft display area to get a close up view of the aircraft.  This is a great time to ask questions regarding aviation.  A drop-in ground school is typically available where airport safety and an introduction to aerodynamics are taught.

When it is time for your child’s flight, your child will be introduced to their pilot and escorted to the aircraft.  Each pilot will assist your child into the aircraft and secure your child with the appropriate seat belts.  Each Young Eagle flight is approximately 20 minutes in length.

Upon returning to the airport, your child will receive a certificate signed by the pilot. They will also receive their very own logbook with a record of their Young Eagles flight.  A coupon for accessing Sporty’s online Private Pilot training course for free will be provided to each child.

Please note that we may have to cancel flights on the day of the event due to weather or lack of volunteer pilots.  Should a rally need to be canceled, we will attempt to reschedule the rally and you will be contacted via e-mail when a new date has been set.

Meet your Pilot
The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible. Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada. Flights are conducted according to federal regulations and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed.
What will my pre-flight be like?
First of all, your pilot will explain what you will see and do. This may include explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Then comes the fun part: you get to go flying!
Safety Reminders
Safety is always top priority when it comes to aviation. Listen and follow instructions given by your pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with your pilot or ground crew at all times.
What will my flight be like?
You will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern. You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives. You will, too!
