Attention Parents: New EAA Chapter 663 Policy for Young Eagle Rallies

EAA Chapter 663 in Livermore is rolling out a new policy to ensure first-time flyers can experience the magic of flight. Beginning March 2024, individuals who've had the pleasure of taking off two or more times at any Young Eagles EAA rally are now kindly asked to fly standby to allow first time flyers a chance to fly. If your child has flown with the Young Eagles more than two times, we can no longer guarantee a free flight. Your child will be moved to our standby list in the event of a last-minute cancellation or no-show. This may require a longer wait time.

Through this new policy, the chapter seeks to prioritize first-time flyers who have not yet experienced their first Young Eagles flight, as well as respect the time and resources of our volunteer pilots. EAA Chapter 663 remains committed to the Young Eagles mission. We are grateful to our dedicated families for their understanding of this new policy.

If your child is interested in becoming a Chapter member or participating in our build or work-study programs at the EAA Livermore chapter, you can reach out to Chapter President Robyne Teslich at officers@eaa663.org.

Thank you,

EAA Chapter 663 - Livermore

Meet your Pilot
The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible. Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada. Flights are conducted according to federal regulations and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed.
What will my pre-flight be like?
First of all, your pilot will explain what you will see and do. This may include explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Then comes the fun part: you get to go flying!
Safety Reminders
Safety is always top priority when it comes to aviation. Listen and follow instructions given by your pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with your pilot or ground crew at all times.
What will my flight be like?
You will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern. You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives. You will, too!
